Character analysis: Mey Rin
How could I not talk about Mey Rin? One of the three redheads of Kuroshitsuji.(I'm not counting the father of Rachel and Red.) Mey Rin is cute, but she's also an amazing fighter. What makes these three redheads similar to one another? Both of them appear shy at first. Madam Red was quite shy, timid, and had low confidence in the first part of her life, and then she became very social and what-can-be-seen-as-confident; Grell portray as his butler was probably how she was before he became a Shinigami(Even though I'm not sure if she is a natural redhead, but it doesn't matter.); Mey Rin appears shy as well, and is a clumsy servant(Like Grell, right?). But what they also have in common is their (Hidden) passionate nature. All three of them are very sexual, and like fashion.
Before we talk about her character in details, I want to talk about her name. It seems that Meyrin is a village in Switzerlarnnd. Could it be that she worked there? Mey-Rin is chinese. From what I've learned from the history of the relations between British Empire and China, it seems that in 1886 British Empire occupied a part of China called Burma. Maybe, Mey-Rin was sent to kill Our Ciel for these reasons?It's a wild guess.
I like this character a lot, though I wish she was more assertive. I know that it's part of her charm, but still. As least, I wish I saw some character development in that regard. I think that she didn't have the chance to be herself, and choose her own way of living. She's 22, isn't she? Mey-Rin was probably an orphan, and didn't have someone she loved. With time, she grew to love Phantomhive house so much that she refuses to throw her useless glasses. Just request better ones, Mey-Rin!
Also, how come Mey-Rin can see so good from great distance? Was she experimented on? It seems that in Black butler we have SO MANY cases of experiments on humans. Bizarre dolls are no exceptions, I tell you.
It seems that Mey-Rin didn't have the freedom like Finny didn't.(Though, Finny is a more extreme case.)I'm so happy that Mey-Rin can wear skirts and dresses now. She looks so cute.
And, those boots are to die for. Damn. Let's go back to comparing Mey-Rin and Finny, who were both deprived of their freedom(To what extent Mey-Rin was deprived is unknown!). I noticed that Finny had a much harder time expressing (Or realizing!) his feelings than Mey-Rin, when they started working at the Phantomhive manor. Though, in the end, they both managed to be find themselves and were able to face their feelings.(Including Bard. I'm not forgetting Bard!As if!)
Mey-Rin has a huge crush on Sebastian, and this is one of the funniest moments in Black butler. Though, Sebastian will never return her feelings.
Though, there's no reason for Sebastian to seduce Mey-Rin like he did with Beast.(*coughs*coughs*), I still think that Sebastian flirts with Mey-Rin in a very subtle way, though the reason why he does that, I think has only to do with him having a big ego than anything else.
I think that Mey-Rin needs to feel like she's a lady. Like all three redheads of this series, she's very feminine. I think that Sebastian knows that, and that's why he said these words.
